Spotlight: Afzal Sajjad Zafir
Hi All
It's a wonderful day for me to share the work of someone I find highly talented! Today, on the Jimmy Broccoli page and website, I shine the spotlight towards Afzal Sajjad Zafir and am thrilled to share his poems here!
I ran across Afzal's writing several months ago - and I've enjoyed everything (of his) I've read. He is an outstanding poet with a unique and very much appreciated voice.
Afzal in his own words:
Afzal Sajjad Zafir is a well-established poet of India. His poems have been published all over the globe, whether it's London, Paris or San Francisco. His poems have a unique voice, it reminds us of the classic Poetry of Robert Frost, W. B. Yeats and Walt Whitman.
Here are three poems by Afzal Sajjad Zafir - and I know you'll love them as much as I do! ______________ Enchanting City
Flying drones, flooding lights. Gigantic buildings, fancy cars. A lady in silk dress with diamond ring, A gentleman in a tuxedo. Abundance of wealth. The newfound California. Wells of oil, a bunch of Bitcoins. The golden robe of Sheikh and his Shining skyscrapers. The investment in future, Building heaven for abusers. Far from the madding crowd, On the outside of city, A mother in slum Taking care of her starving child.

Abandon thy hope If you wish to live here. The treacherous world Is grave of expectations. Ah, the expectations, The cause of ache. A dangerous plague. Love your enemies, don't spread hate. Still, what I got is just hate. I would not write about peace and love. The superficial concepts of philosopher. Those who believe only suffer. Do not talk to thee, The mad poet's work will cause you injury.

"It is said that before entering the sea A river trembles with fear " You're a warrior destined to victory, For who creates art to ease The pain of others, Is indeed living life. A life not lived in vain. This time is tough Yet it shall pass. I pray it moves fast. Do not give up on your dreams, Be the man you always wanted to be. This will make your father proud, He is smiling upon you from heaven. Almighty will ease your pain, You will meet him in heaven again. For the sufferings, He will grant thee In heaven you will see.
