Spotlight: Brandon Adam Haven

Hi All

It's a great day to shine the spotlight on the work of an individual I find highly talented. Today, it is a privilege, on the Jimmy Broccoli page and website, to share with you the poetry of Brandon Adam Haven.

I first read Brandon's work a couple of years ago and immediately became a fan. Soon after, I left a few poetry groups and joined others - not re-discovering his poems until very recently. And - I'm so glad I did - his poems are exceptional and consistently well-written.

Here is Brandon in his own words:

Brandon Adam Haven resides in Rockford Illinois, a recovered addict still trying to find his place in the decaying world that surrounds us.

Here are two of Brandon's poems - and I'm certain you'll love them as much as I do! ______________

Behind The Wall Of Sleep

Beyond a deep desolation of all that’s known Past the empty portraits of all that’s been shown Brick filled streams where the silent tears seep Dazed in recourse, where found is no remorse Lingering seemingly through lonely dreams Behind the wall of sleep, into ethereal divinity

Through the dark and into the deep So lucid a love I can foresee In a realm where love does surround I feel free and livid, not weighted down From all the sorrows life does bring Into a cosmic infinity Behind the wall of dreams

My soul feels awakened as I lay in slumber As I glide far away from solemn and somber Far away from the pillow my tears do stain The suffering within, the constant disdain The lonely nights, dark thoughts of suicide The withering inside, always questioning why For only here found is the pleasant dreams I seek to exist behind the wall of sleep Far past where the lonely tears I weep ____

Love Is a Broken Vessel

Love is a broken vessel fleeting amort Swirling and crestfallen, gleaming away Deep into the elysian two hearts contort Intricately daunting, longing to stay Deeply connected by the souls timid affection I get lost in the perfect embodiment of your being Mirrored a broken complexion with no sense of direction Deep into your sweet seraphic sapidity
