Spotlight: Chris Donaho
Hi All
It's an amazing day to shine the spotlight on someone I find highly talented. Today, it is a pleasure to share with you the poetry and art of Chris Donaho.
I've followed Chris' written work and his art for quite some time - and I'm repeatedly impressed with his creations. His art is original and thought-providing and his poems frequently demand a re-read - because they are that good. Chris' poetry is featured within my poetry anthology, "Spotlight", because he's one of the best poets writing today. And - Chris is an all-around great guy and an awesome friend.
Here is Chris in his own words:
I write, a smidge, esoterically. Some people don't get it, but it's all about the one that understands. I'm kidding. LOL. I'm just scratching an itch way down in me.
Here are 2 poems by Chris Donaho - and I know you'll love them as much as I do! _____________
Tide
That moon, she hung herself. We saw her swaying in the early morning breeze. She had such a sad, vacancy about her- that moon. That porcelain moon. She pulls at us, our tides are at her mercy.
We pluck our strings with these broken fingers. _____
Scabs and Knots
This head is full of knots.
Scabs I pick at.
The frayed ends at my fingertips become knots themselves if I'm not careful.
You could say my frequency is off kilter, a smidge.
The scabs we relentlessly pick at today become tomorrow's scars.
You see, I'm a fucking genius in all the wrong ways.
Every problem I've ever had was just a knot. And these knots are mine.
Some have tightened through my days, little nooses at clarity's neck.
And some have lost wars you'll never see.
