Spotlight: Gina Carrillo (Black Widow)

Hi All

It's a fantastic day to shine the spotlight on someone I find highly talented. It is with great pleasure, I share with you the poetry of Gina Carrillo (aka Black Widow).

I've been reading Gina's poems for about 3 years - and I enjoy them very much. Gina's viewpoints on life and living frequently mirror (or are similar) to mine - and her writing style is unique and impressive. And - she was one of the chosen poets for my first anthology, "Spotlight" (deservingly so).

Here is Gina in her own words:

Here are two of Gina's poems - and, I'm certain you'll love them as much as I do! ______________ In and Out

Now I know how Juliet felt When she lost her Romeo

Why did he have to go Only God knows

We were all Blessed to know him

As he tried to take his last breath -He left

You loved me the rest of your life I was your best friend and wife

Some take for granted The air that we breathe

The most important things in life We may not be able to see

-Black Widow Lost poem found from 2010 ____ Word Swirl

I wake up with words in my head poems reciting in my mind do poets feel crazy sometimes words floating up in the air they're just scattered everywhere I reach up and grab one or two and put them together for you they keep moving around are they going somewhere round and round they go where they stop no one knows

There is no earthly way of knowing which direction they are going there's no knowing where they're rowing or which way the rivers flowing is it raining, is it snowing is a hurricane a blowing not a speck of light is showing so the danger must be growing are the fires of hell a glowing is the Grimm Reaper mowing Colors are whirling Words keep on swirling and they're certainly not showing any signs that they are slowing stop the boat will we sink or will we float

-Black Widow
